No matter what anyone has to say,
I want to age like a robin in every way;
Be it the cheerful song that it sings,
Or the cold blanket of winter it brings.
I wish my heart had the warmth it has,
on its warm orange chest;
With which I could help the cold and hopeless souls,
Forget the past and rise to life’s every test…
Though I want to fly around,
and explore the sky and the ground;
I, too want to build my nest in the shrubs of society,
so as to be rooted in the earth for eternity…
Like a fire it appears out of nowhere,
to cheer up the mood of every face with a frown;
Like a flame of magic, I would also like,
To create enough rivers of joy for every upset mind to drown…
Robins may not be very smart or great,
but they adapt to every condition;
I pray to God to give me the strength,
to be flexible in every situation…
Singing all day, every happy and cheerful song,
Making everyone happy as I move along;
Just like a Robin making music for nature’s thirsty ears,
As the trees sway and the wind, too hums a song…
A messenger from an angelic soul is what a robin is,
Although, I don’t think I can match upto that;
It can convey the message of a recently departed loved one,
While I can only try to lessen the painful impact.
I want to age like a Robin,
Colourful, melodious and strong, spiritually;
Shiver in winter to stay warm,
Covered with feathers of good deeds that replenish endlessly…
