With a weapon called the ‘Destruction Virus’,
A pandemic called Corona came into our lives;
Stealing away our freedom, our jobs and our loved ones,
It mutates into variants and still happily thrives.
First our doctors experimented
With combinations of different medicines;
While our scientists worked day and night
And came up with some effective vaccines.
Now, that things are falling into place
With schools and colleges opening their gates,
Hygiene, Masks and Sanitizers are still mandatory,
As new variants can still infect us and change our fates.
People complained about being under house arrest,
While others did about online school and work from home;
As destiny slowly paves new ways to restore life,
We feel that the curse is over and we are free to roam.
Firstly, it is not over, be it Covid19, Omicron or Delta;
The battle is still being fought;
As the virus moves through carriers
Looking for a prey to be caught.
Irresponsible people break the rules and put others at risk,
While our Covid warriors daily play the deadly game;
We think about protecting ourselves and our loved ones
But they sacrifice their lives for humanity and yet remain shadows without name.
Slowly, as we move back from Online to Offline
And from the comfort of our home to the trip to office and back;
Masked risks stand in our way in markets and in means of transport;
Failure to follow the protocol and they will attack.
Even though it is a curse and we have suffered a lot;
It also became a teacher to teach us to follow basic things we forgot;
Hygiene and Cleanliness have finally gained the top priority spot;
Don’t take time, life and family for granted has been strictly taught.
Let us salute the shadows without name
And honour the lives and time lost;
Time to pledge to continue to practice what we have learnt,
To protect our future generations from paying such a terrible cost.
