The Loneliness of Social Media, a poetry by Aarna Dutt

The Loneliness of Social Media

The Loneliness of Social Media

The Loneliness of Social Media
In the glow of screens, we find our place
Connected yet distant, in this digital place
Scrolling through feeds, a never-ending stream
But beneath the surface may loneliness gleam
Comments and shares, a transitory high
But when it all turns off, we’re all left to sigh
Comparing lives that aren’t so real,
Forgetting that we live in a world that isn’t ideal
We chase the illusion of belongingness,
Seeking relationships that are meaningless.
But a true connection evades our clasp
As a lonely digital place, it has us under its grasp.
So we must not forget, amidst the virtual display,
There are hearts we know, that might fade away,
For in the depth of human clutch,
Lies the remedy to loneliness clutch.
